OVERSTAYED HIS LEAVE.

(si telegraph press association.) WELLINGTON, June 2.

A Chinese named Lee Sow was fined £2O in the court- to-day for remaining in the Dominion after the expiry of a, teporary permit. The defendant had overstayed his leave by 21 months. “There is evidently an organised gang working these permits, for a large number have overstayed their leave,” said the Collector of Customs.

SENTENCES AT WANGANUI. WANGANUI. June 2, Prisoners sentenced by Mr Justice Peed at the Supreme Court to-day were: —Raumcwa Tnhinia, for false pretences, three years’ probation. Benintd Conroy, for assaulting the court bailiff. a yea'rV reformative treatment.
