(From Our Own Correspondent.) GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. P- SKinlayson) has received word from Captain Boyle, private secretary to His Excellency the. Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) that His Ex- < ellency and Lady Fergusson, accompanied'bv their daughter, Mrs. Haviland, will be in Pa tea before noon on Saturday, June 16. . Arrangements are being made in mder to make the Governor-General s visit a memorable one. SKATING CARNIVAL. Although it is only close on three months since a skating rink was opened in Pa tea, the carnival held on Tuesday evening in the Domain training shed revealed a great number of very skilful skaters. The following were the winners of the various events: Best ladv’s costume. Miss E. Julian; Indies’ fan and balloon race, Mrs. E. Horner; card couples, Mrs. Thorbum and Mr. Moore: three-legged race I boys'), Laurie Edwards and Jack c amps on ; best man’s costume, Mr. G. Morse; most graceful couple. Mrs. E. Horner and Mr. J. Gunn; one-legged race, Reg. Dekirgey. On Friday evening a silver medal will be gained by the winner of the half-mile men’s race. “FUN DOCTOR.” On Tuesday. Mr. Norman Tate, who is known as the “fun doctor.” gave a very clever and unique entertainment, comprising juggling, balancing. and month organ feats, to the scholars of +h© local school. In the morning Mr. Tate grentlv delighted the patients of the Patea Hospital. PERSONAL. Rev. Father E. J. Lynch, of Marton, was a visitor to Patea on Wednesday. FOOTBALL. JUNIOR. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The annual junior seven-a-side tournament for the Morse Cup will lie held on the Domain on Monday, June 4. it is expected that teams will participate from various parts of Taranaki, including New Plymouth. The local club will be represented by the following at the Dewar Shield Competition on Monday, Junei 4: Hurley, Stanford, Cooper, Couch, Guy, Watson, Bourke.
