TOLL COMMUNICATIONS.

NO- REDUCTION IN PRICES. Tlie Haivera Chamber of Commerce recently asked that the Telegraph Department reduce the telephone rates for long-distance* calls during business hours. The secretary of the Associated Chambers: of Commerce has interviewed the Post and Telegraph Department on the matter, and has received the reply that the rates lor toll communications compared favourably with the rates in vogue in other countries. Certain reductions were made in November, 1926, and the rates were now considered very reasonable. The Department regretted that at the present time no further reduction could be made. At the last meeting of the executive of the Chamber of Commerce the reply was considered satisfactory.—“ Dominion.”
