POSITION OF MR. CO OLID GE
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC
TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, May 30. At Charleston, Governor Smith had a lead over Senator Reid in the early returns to-day. _ _ • In the West Virginia Presidential primary voting, Mr. Hoover was leading Senator Goff for the Republican delegates. Representative Williams, speaking in Congress, predicted that President Coolidge would be renominated for another term of office and re-elected unless he makes a positive statement in time to prevent the Kansas City convention from redrafting him. Mr. Williams pointed out that the 1924 Congress had often obstructed Mr. Coolidge’s policies, yet the people gave the President an overwhelming majority, and the same would occur in 1928 unless the President’s own positive statement that he will not accept was forthcoming.
