(Opunake) £2V,- -New Plymouth Hospital Fl 9 12s, Wanganui Hospital Flo, Ha.wera Hospital £1 9s, lh-. Church (Opunake) £1 Is, l>r. Watt (Opunake) £l. in reply to the 0.0. A., Mr. It. S. Sage, bankrupt stated that he u'as employed on the Opunake-Te Rioti section of the railway for six years, but during the last seven months he got behind financially owing to being injured while working, and had- been laid up for five months. To this, lie attributed his bankruptcy. Lately, he had only been on casual work. During the, past 12 months, bankrupt stated that his earnings would not average £2 per week, Mr. Poole, of Opunake had sued him and a judgment summons was- also issued against him, which compelled him to file, .as it was quite impossible to pay off bis present debts. Since leaving the railway bankrupt stated that he had suffered from defective eyesight which greatly mitigated against work which lie had been used to'. He was also maintaining his wife, and at present was not in constant work. Bankrupt stated further that his earnings when working were 12s per day. He was unable to make any offer to his creditors.
