HOCKEY.
KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNEY. The combined Taranaki Hockey Association’s ladies’ and men’s eleven and five a-side tournament, to be held at King Edward Park, Hawera, on Alonday next, June 4, promises to he a great success. The games commence at 10 a.m., and each team will play at least three games before the semifinals are reached.
In the men’s section already fifteen Taranaki teams have entered, so fast and exciting contests should he the day. The trophies for competition are as follow: Ladies’ tournament, Catran Cup; men’s five-a-side, Winter Cup and trophies for each member of the winning team. - . The following are the entries so far received for the men’s tourney: Otakeho A Otakeho B. Eltham A, Eltham, B, Eltham C, Eltham D, New Plymouth, Alangatoki A, Afangatoki B, Waitara, Manaia A, Manaia B, Hawera, Kaponga A, Kaponga B. Stratford and. Hawera B clubs are not entering teams, as both these clubs are playing for the Wesley Shield at Wanganui, where an all-day full team tourney for Wesley clubs only is being played.
