A NEW CHURCH.
BAPTISTS IN HAWERA
CO Y IMENCFA CENT .\ fA BE
The progress made by the Baptist Church in Hawera has been very .marked., and a. material evidence of this is shown by the commencement of building operations on their new church, which will be erected on the corner of Surrey and A-rgyle Streets, a large section having been secured by their leaders some two years ago, when the decision to build was made.
The plans, shown, to a “Hawera Star’’ representative, by the courtesy of the builder, Mr A. C. Stewart, show that the building will bo a handsome edifice, worthy of the town and of- the members of that church. It is designed to seat about 200 people, having a space of 39ft by 28 ft Gin in the body of the church. The main vestibule will open on to Argylo Street, and beyond the church hall will be two vestries, each Bft by Bft 6in. On the- north aspect will be two rooms, for prayer meetings and social gatherings, with kitchen and other rooms at the back. The outside will be finished in rough cast, giving,- a -neat and -handsome -appearance, and on the roof will be Marseilles tiles.
The building will be a.distinct addition to th'c churches of the town.
