QUEEN ALEXANDER’S MOUNTED RIFLES’ BALL. (From Our Own (Correspondent.) On Wednesday evening a large number of dancers .attended the town hall, Waveiiev, where (the ball, given by the Queen Alexander’s Mounted Rifles was held. The evening, proved ia'eal for dancing, although the recent rain prevented a number of people attending. .The music was provided by the Regimental Band, under the eonductorsliip of Cap’t. Buckley, and was greatly appreciated by- everyone present, every dance being enchorcd several times. Extended leave gave the men in khaki a very enjoyable evening, and as there was ample mdans of conveyance -both to and from the Camp, practically everyone granted leave attended the dance. The supper was on 'the usual lavish scale and ithe tables were beautifully decorated with ' autumn leaves and chrysbabthemums, the thanks for which are due to the ladies who responded to the call in their usual willing manner. A large number of visitors from as far as Hawera and Wanganui were present. The Wall was tastefully decorated. Dancing was carried on until the early hours of the morning 'an unusual feature being that practically every couple danced the last dance testifying the popularity; and success of the evening and 'the enjoyment of all present.
