A bitter two days’ debate in the Assembly arose out of the AuditorGeneral surcharging the Minister of Posts with £231 for the use of a motorear for private purposes, which the Prime Minister subsequently condoned. General Smuts to-dav said that he regarded the allegation against the auditor as the gravest, and demanded a judicial inquiry. The Prime Minister offered a committee of Parliament to inquire, which the Opposition accepted.
