The president remarked that the letter was forwarded in accordance with his instructions, and on his motion the secretary’s action was endorsed.

The Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society wrote asking support of its resolution urging the- Government to prohibit the importation of all stock from countries affected with foot and mouth disease until such time a-s they have been declared: free from infection.

“It would be a. very disastrous thing if we got foot and mouth disease, in New Zealand,” said' the chairman, on whose motion it was decided unanimously to support- the resolution. In response to a letter received from the, Mayor (Mr. E. A. It appeared, therefore, that the association could take no action in the direction of putting off its meeting. Resignations from membership of the association were received fi'om Messrs. A. Simmons (Inaha) and. P. M. Pratt (Matapu).
