RADIO IN HOSPITALS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —We, the undersigned medic'al practitioners of Hawera, desire to express through your columns our wholehca'ted approval of the proposed installation of a radio receiving set in the local public hospital. We are convinced of its beneficial effects in relieving the tedium of convalescence, and appreciate its medium in allowing the patient’s mind to get. away for a time from the routine of ward life. Anything which acts as a stimulus to the mind, and provides a focus for pleasant concentration must necessarily prove a tonic, and can h'ave none other than a health provoking effect. The fact, that radio receiving sets have been installed in all the leading hospitals in Britain, America, and more recentlv in Sydney, as well as in the Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch Hospitals, speak's for itself as to the value of such a project as is being proposed for our own town. There is no doubt that, ultimately all hospitals will be fitted up with wireless receiving sets. We wish the project every success and will give our hearty co-opcra'fion 'to its fulfillment. We are. etc., W. F. BUIST. J. McG’HIE, R. G. B. SINCLAIR, W. M. THOMSON, A. M. YOUNG.
