AT NORTH POLE

LONDON, May 24. King’s Bay reports state that the north-west gale was so adverse that General Mobile was unable to carry out his full plans at the Pole. It was impossible to land because the anchor would not have held. They could not drop the Pope’s wooden commoratlvc cross of the Italian flag. In a wireless message at eleven o’clock in the morning, they announced that they were flying over the unexplored parts o the North Greenland. Oil arriving at King’s Bay at midnight, they found the city beliagged.
