TE KIRI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The many friends in this district will be pleased to know of Mr. TL H. Gilshnan’s success in being appointed manager of the Opunake Dairy Company. He fulfilled the position of first assistant at Taimgatara for several years, proving a very popular and painstaking official. Opunake peojjle have availed themselves of his organising ability to run the tug-o’-war contest at present being conducted there. A very enjoyable euchre party was held the other evening, the ladies’prize being won by Mrs. Sayed with: nine games, and the men’s by Mr. Dixon after a play-off with Mr. L. Marshall. After supper a “free and easy” dance was held, young and old: having a. very enjoyable time. The music was supplied by Misses M. and TT. Tindle and' Messrs. W. Coxhead and L. Beer. Mr. W. Coxhead also carried out the duties of M.C. A farewell social to Mr. and Mrs. Dodger, Mrs. and Miss Collins. Mr. S. Hodges and Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Hughes and family has been arranged for Friday evening. Although many people are leaving the district this year, the school fortunately will not lie affected adversely. During the holidays the pupils of Mnngahume school held a. concert, at which they acquitted themselves very creditably,' and during which they presented their master (Mr. McMahon) with a. tea-set to mark the occasion of his Wedding.
