ORCHESTRAL MUSIC
HAWERA SOCIETY’S CONCERT. JUNE! 5, IN OPERA HOUSE. Aluoli interest is being taken in tlie first cion cert of the season of the Hiavrrra Orchestral Society, which has been definitely fixed for Tuesday, June 5. The date was altered from that originally decided because of unforeseen eircn instances. The orchestra will b© larger and better than ever, having now no less than 55 playing members, and being exceptionally well l balanced in every way. Tlie assisting artists will serve to ably second the efforts of 'the orchestra. Miss Betty Stuirrock, L.A.R., A.R.A.M., solo violiniste; Aliss 'Alary Barnes, mezzo-soprano vocalist, and Air Rupert George, expert xylophone .soloist, will make an excellent combination of relented artists, while as guest conductor, a new idea, Air Vivian Lester, of Stratford, and late of the Alt. Albert Orchestral Society, will take over control of two numbers. These features ivill serve to make the concert a noteworthy function in the history of the society. The committee i.s anxious to secure more honorary members, and in consequence are making a special effort in this direction.
