VALEDICTORY.

FAREWELL SOCIAL AT KAPONGA. NURSE SINCLAIR ENTERTAINED. On the eve of li'er departure for Nelson, after a term of -service at the Kaponga. private lios-pital extending over three years, Nurse N. Sinclair was entertained at a farewell social in the Kaponga Parish Hall last evening. . There was a representative gatlier'ing of, about 70 to honour the departing guest-, who has made a host of friends during her sojourn in the localtiy. Numbered among those present were Nurse Sinclair’s mother, father, brother and a number of friends from Egmont Village. The entertainment took the form of a short musical programme, followed by dancing, which was kept up until midnight. Contributors to the programme were: Mrs. R. G. Cook (pianofoite solo), Mrs. D. Fitzgerald (song). Mr. J. O’Donoghuo (song), Mrs. .1. Tyack and Miss Evans (duet). The accompaniments word played by Mrs. I. Evans, who also played the dance music.

On behalf of her numerous Ivaponga friends l , Mr. W. G. Oran presented Nurse Sinclair, with a solid leather, suit case, and expressed the very best wishes for her future welfare, at the same time voicing the general regret at her departure. Mr. Sinclair, senr., briefly and suitably- acknowledged’ the gift and good wishes on his daughter’s behalf. Before the gathering terminated supper was served by the ladies. The conduct of the social was in the capable hands of Messrs. W. G. Oran and W. H. L. Roberts.
