Rain, producing the typical English wicket, kept the county scores to more recognisable limits, though there were several good partnerships, mostly of old timers. Yorkshire’s dismissal of Cambridge University for a total of thirty was a startling collapse. Robinson skittled the wickets, taking an average of eight for 13 in 13 overs. Blundell, a Cambridge bowler ,(a New Zealander), piadd an excellent Impression. He made ball spring either way and had a good length, capturing three or four of Yorkshire’s wiekets. His bowling was one of the features of the week.

SUMMARY OF THE MATCHES. LONDON, [May 18. In the county matches Hampshire 540, heat Middlesex 200, and 532 for three wickets. Lee made 160, Hendren 200 and Haigin 103. The match was decided on the first innings. West Indies 348 and 118 for six drew with Surrey 285 and 253 for six wickets /(Hobbs: not i put 123, Sankam not out 108). Yorkshire 514 for six wickets, beat Essex 226 (iMacauley took five for 83 and Rhodes four for 60). , Kent 255 and 311 (Logge 56, Longfield 56 and Astill taking six for 72) beat Leicestershire 234 and 100 for two on the first innings. Lancashire 340 and 232 for four wickets, declared (Hallows, not out, 101), heat Warwickshire 205 and 231 for one wicket (Kilner, not out, 137, Bates, not out, 80) on the first innings. 'Gloucestershire 3:30 and 49 for two wickets heat Sussex 173 and 202 (Hammond took six. for 62). The match was won by eight wiekets. Nottinghamshire 333 and 87 for three wickets heat Somerset 159 i and 260 (Staples taking six for 85) by seven wiekets. Playing for Glamorgan against Derbyshire Ryan took six wickets for eight wickets. Glamorgan won.
