Late on Saturday evening a young man was arrested by Constable O’Neillfor drunkenness. This morning at the Police Court (Mr. R. IV. J. McNeill, J.P., presiding), defendant, who did not appear, was treated- as a first offender and fined' the amount of his bail, £l. At the Police Court this morning, during the hearing of a- charge oi drunkenness, Sergeant Henry stated that the defendant was a prohibited person, whereupon the Bench advised the police to bring before the court all persons who s'nppiied prohibited people with liquor, as this class of offence was too prevalent, and was also a most serious breach of the licensing laws. Mr. T. N. Blake, son of Mr. S.'Blake, who- with his wife and family has spent some days in Hawera, returns to his home at Whangarei to-morrow. Further to paying a visit to his family Mr. Blake lias been purchasing pedigree stock in the district, for his northern farm. MISSING FROM HOTEL.
