Oflicers elected for the New Zealand Educational Institute are: President, Mr. A J. C. Hall (Auckland); treasurer, Mr. G. Robertson (Wellington); vice-president, Mr. G. G. Poison, M.A.; executive, Miss M. E. Magill, Miss M. C. Edmed, Messrs J. P. Hawke, H. F. Penlington, P. A. Garry, G. T. Griffiths, A. Murdoch, Finlayson, P. M. Jackson, T. Irvine. Mr. P. A. McHardy, one of the bestknown resident of the Mianawatu, who did excellent patriotic service during the war, was honoured by the Palmerston North Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening, by having conferred on him the badge of life membership, states a Press Association telegram. Mr. McHardy, who donated the site for the local Anzac C’iub was the second life member, the other being Mr. .John Herbert Hankins, also a verv old resident.

A Press Association message froiii Hastings reports the death of Air. William Young Bennett, aged 83, who had been a prominent resident or Hastings and Napier ior over sixty ears. The deceased came to Hastings fifty years ago, and took an active part in 'public life, being mayor for five years and also the holder of many other p lib lie offices. He took part in the Alaori war with the Napier militia. A visit will shortly be made to New Zealand by the Rev. Dr. W. C. Poole, president of the World’s Sunday School Association, which is associated witli the religious education of more than 30,000,€00 children in various countries in the world. He will be accompanied by 'Airs. Poole and by Sir Edward Sharp, chairman of the British committee of the association. The party wil. arrive in Auckland by the Aorangi on June 4 from Sydney, and two days later they will leave for the south. The president is an Australian, who has rendered distinguished service to Church movements in England and in the United .States. He has in recent years been resident in London.
