CABLES AND WIRELESS.
REPORT OF CONFERENCE RECEIVED. BEAM-CABLE .PACT REPORTED. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TEL FIG R A PH—COPYRIGHT.) (UNITED SERVICE.) LONDON, May 5. There is reason to believe the Government is now in possession of the views of the wireless-cable conference in the form of a draft summary of the report and recommendations, if not the actual report. A Government anivouncement is expected on Monday when questions will be asked in the House of 'Commons. The “Financial News” believes the report is in favour of the PlenclerGarnsey amalgamation proposals, despite the fact that other suggestions concerning the purchase of the Government’s telegraphic interests have been considered by the conference. On the reports that the Government has ratified a beam and cable pact from the Post Office to a new amalgamation of the Eastern and Marconi companies, says the “Daily Mail,” Marconi 10s shares rose to GGs 3d.
The reports are not confirmed officially, but a well-informed authority says that negotiations are nearing com plotion and an official announcement is imminent.
