MOZART’S TWELFTH MASS.
AT ELTHAM TOWN HALL. A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS. Judging by the long packed lines of motor-cars in Stanners Street last evening, all roads apparently led. to the Elthani Town Hall, where the Stratford combined jubilee choirs sang Mozart’s Twelfth Mass before a large and appreciative audience. Under the baton of Mr. J. Edmondson, the huge choir of close upon sixty well-balanced voices was a model of harmonious unison and precision, and the entire production was marked by a pronounced and pleasing smoothness. The orchestral work also was of a very high order, and the combined vocal and instrumental effect evoked a feeling of amazement that such a finished production was possible beyond the limits of the larger centres of the Dominion. The whole performance reflected great crecac cn all concerned. The soloists were Mesdames Pepperell, Johnson, Pickles, and Bryce, Misses Jones, R. Black, Campbell, G. Black, McCormick, and Skelton, Messrs J. Weston, Hale, Walker, Betts, Coe, Thomson, Spurdle. Howard, and Taylor. The first half of the delightful programme presented consisted of a concert by the following: Flute solo, Mr. R. Dick; song “O, Lonely Night,” M iss Campbell; song, Mrs.' Pickles; violin solo, Miss Robb (encored) ; pianoforte duet, Misses Weston and McElroy (encored).
