SUCCESSFUL SEASON REVIEWED ASSOCIATION’ ANNUAL MEETING Highly successful results of the year’s activities making it possible for the Tawhiti Sports’ Association, .to make a substantial donation to tbe district ball funds were disclosed at the annual meeting of the association, which drew an attendance of only fifteen members to the Tawhiti Hail last evening. The retiring president (Mr J. B. Laurenson) occupied the chair ancl presented the, annual 'report (published yesterday). The balance-sheet presented by the secretary (Mr It. AlcQay) showed a credit at the bank of £66 5s lid, in addition to a reserve of £3O 18s deposited in the Post Office Savings Panic, the increase for tbe year being £SO 11s 6<l. On the motion of the president, seconded by Mr J. Bublitz, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Further complimentary reference in addition to the tribute already paid in the leport concerning the work of the secretary was made by the president and was endorsed by other speakers. “We all know that Mr McCay has given very valuable service,” said Mr A. Appleyard, on whose motion, seconded by Mr W. V. Parker, the secretary was voted an honorarium of 15 guineas. donation to hall funds. The suggestion that a donation be made to tne hall funds led to considerable discussion as to the amount to be donated. A proposal was made by Mr -Bublitz that all moneys in excess of "tlxo .reserve in 'blio Oliice o2tvings Dank be contributed to the hair fund, but oil the motion of Mr A. Appleyard, seconded by Mr G. Pickering, it was finally decided on a majority vote to augment a reserve to the extent of £lO, and after allowing for the payment of any accounts, to devote the remaining cash balance to the hall. , It was anticipated that the donation would amount to between £3O and £33. Thrush votes, of thanks were accorded the president and secretary, both of whom, said the sponsor of the motion, carried out very fine work in the interests ol the association. election of officers Officers were elected as follow : —- President, Mr J. B. Laurenson (reelected) ; vice-president, J. W. Alexander ; secretary, Mr R. McCay (reelected) ; executive committee, Messrs A. Appleyard, J. W. Alexander, H. Thrush, W. Parker and W. Reid and the president and secretary. It was decided that the general com- j mittee consist of all financial members of the association. The appointment of the executive committee was approved during the election of officers on the suggestion of Mr H. Thrush, who urged that it would-be in the interests of the association to have a committee to deal with matters not requiring the attention of the full committee or take action on occasions when the full committee could not assemble. The nominations numbered fourteen. Various suggestions for adding to the attraction of the annual sports were discussed and recommended for consideration when the next season's programme was being dealt with. It was decided that the 1929 sports be held towards the end of March "on a date to be fixed later. Votes of thanks were accorded the lady helpers of the association, the chairman of the meeting and the Press. A vote of sympathy with Air W. Ngem, a member of the association, in the death of his wife which occurred recently, was carried by the meeting, members, standing in silence.
