SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

WAIHI MEETING. EXCELLENT WORK DONE. The first day of the sheep dog trials at Waihi saw a lot of excellent work in the first class, the long bead, and the first prize went to Mr. W. V. Mclntyre's “Nap” with 47 points out of 50, H. R. Scott’s “Meg” being third with 45. iMr. W. B. Grant, of New Plymouth, acted as judge, and complimented the competitors on the good work shown for him. The result of "the first class was as follows: CLASS I.—Head, pull, and hold in ring; about 400 yards. Time, 10 minutes. Points: Heading 16, bringing back 18, holding in ring 4, command 12—total 50. \V. V. Mclntyre’s “Nap” (16, 16, 3, 12.), 47 points 1 S. A. George’s “Black” (14, 16, 4, 11), 45 points 2 11. R. 43 points 4 There were 31 entries, of which 28 competed.

THE WAITOTARA TRIALS

Tlie sheep dog trials at "W aitotara were responsible for much good ana sound worn, and the judge, Mr. J. Hunter, of .Makirikiri, expressed himself as very pleased with the general standard of tlie work shown throughout. The list of awards was as below: Class I, maiden event.—H, J. Wilson’s “Turk,” 49 points, 1; R. W. White’s “Scot,” 48) points, 2; R. JLeith’s “Meg,” 48 points 3. Class II head, pull and hold in ring. —W. V. Mclntyre’s “Chief Junior,” 43 points, 1; J. C. Williams’ “Glen,” 42) points, 2; W. V. Mclntyre’s “Nap,” 42 points, 3. Class 111, head, pull, drive and yard.—E. Leahy’s “Spark,” 58) points, 1; T Sullivan’s “Pinch,” 58 points, 2; Li. 6. White’s “Scott,” 55 points, 3; E. Leahy’s “Marvin,” 54) points, 4. Class IV, huntaway.—T. Sullivan’s “Rafferty,” 38 points, 1; A. Masters “King,” 34 points, 2; G. Paddison s “Glen,” 33) points, 3.
