SKI-ING ON MT. EGMONT.

ACTIVITIES OF THE ALPINE. The site fen- the first iski-ing track on Mount Egmont has been chosen, and several people who- have ski-ied in other parts of the world testify that it is very suitable for the purpose. The track will be situated on the Stratford Plateau, a very central spot, about three: miles from Dawson Falls and very litttle further than the North Egmont Hostel. There is a certain amount of clearing to he: done to prepare the track, which will be about a chain wide and half a mile long, anil to commence this work a party of members of the Alpine Club are going up on Sunday, April 28th. Transport has been arranged, leaving Hawera about S a.m., and Dawson Falls at 9 a.m. Mr. Rod Syme is in charge. A strong party is going up from Stratford and also one from Kaponga, and the committee hopes that as many as possible will go from Hawera,'to enable a good start to he made in clearing the track'; other smaller parties will carry on at a later date. The committee will also endeavour to arrange transport for any ladies who would like to join the party for the outing, which would not he strenuous. Those undertaking to work are asked to take slashers or other suitable implements with them if possible.
