EARL BIRKENHEAD.

LIRELY TO- LEAVE POLITICS, 'UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.! (AUSTRALIAN PRESS AMOOTATION.) LONDON, April 23. „ The “Daily News” says that Earl Birkenhead’s future is again the subject of gossip in authoritative political circles, where it is believed he is likely to leave politics after the next general election and follow Mr. Mcßenna into city speculations. This idea has received impetus owing to Earl Birkenhead’s writings. His relations with-Mr. Baldwin have never been cordial, but are now frigid, the Prime Minister finding it difficult to forgive Earl Birkenhead his error of judgment in regard to a, book the latter is writing, and in which he states his obiection to the Government’s attitude on the subject of the enfranchisement of women.

The “Daily News,” recalling Earl Birkenhead’s dictum that “the world offers glittering, prizes for those with .stout hearts and sharp swords,” expresses the opinion that Earl Birkenhead is going in search of them.
