Corwin poises as a public benefactor until the kero, terry o’Neil, brings him to justice, changing public admiration to overwhelming fury. In the meantime, however, Terry falls in love with Corwin’s beautiful daughter Helen, played by May McAvoy, and the denouement which 'O’Neil brings about in the course of his duty is also responsible for the humiliation of tike adoring daughter. There are many very touching and dramatic scenes, which Miss McAvoy enacts with powerful realism 1 . An unusually strong muster of favouiritsi players support the work of tkp two distinguished stars, making the picture one of outstanding merit, which will long be remembered by all who see it. NOTABLE DETECTIVE PLAY. “The Ringer,’ to be presented by the J. C. Villi unison Company, headed by the noted actor, Museovitodh, is described as capital entertainment, lhe battle of wits between Scotland; Yard and the master ‘'‘crook” is an evergreen inexhaustible theme for tlie novel and the stage, and “The Ringer” is a dramatised version of one of Edgar \Vaillace’s most popular and thrilling detective. stories.
