FRENCH ELECTIONS.
FIRST DAY’S POLLING. INCIDENTS IN CAMPAIGN. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) (UNITED’ SERVICE.) PARIS, April 22. The first day’s polling in the elections was' orderly, aud had' a humorous side. A Communist candidate’s poster ■cleolared : “Vote for nobody. least of all me.”
The failure of M. Bokauow-ski, the Air Minister, to adequately support the Costes-Lebrix round-tlio-world flight, Ted to stormy scenes in his constituency, the crowds shouting “A Bas lx>ke. ”
The- results of the poll are not expected to be surprising, though the polling is heavy. Of 3750 candidates. 200 will he elected; the second ballot for electing the remaining 432 delegates will ‘be held' on April 29. The ratio of occupations among the candidates was: Barristers 385, journalists 266, workers 200, farmers 386, doctors 359, teachers 90.. bankers eight, priests 'seven.
