TE KIRI SPORTS.

GREAT CHOPPING ENTRY. BIG FIELDS IN FOOT RACING. Th© third annual sports gathering under the auspices oi the To km Scottish Association, held yesterday on the To Kiri Domain, was well patronised by th© sight-seeing public and by competitors in all events oil in© programme. Rain threatened an the morning, but the. weather cleared as the day advanced. Principal interest centred in the numerous woodehopping ©vents, in which exceptionally large numbers of expert axemen competed. So numerous were the contestants in tnree of these that it was necessary to decide the issue in heats. It is questionable if a better entry has been made in chopping contests at any meeting in Taranaki for many years. Control of this star attraction reflected the highest credit on the executive, though the gathering, as a whole, was excellently managed by the following officials: — Handicappers, Alessrs. J. A. Hansen and L. Corbett; starters, Alessis. L. Alacßeynolds and L. Corbett; nidges, Alessrs. S. Agnew, L. _ A. Marshall, J. T. Alildenfiall (running), A. Volzke and R. C.
