An amusing incident occurred at tne sports at Waikoliu, Poverty Bay, on Easter Monday. A lad, about to enter for an event for boys under ten years was aisked to* give his age. He repbed: “I am ten to-day. ’’ When the official explained that the race was for boys, under ten, he laughingly remarked, to the amusement of those within hearing, “I am oiilv nine, because 1 was not hcin till three o'clock m the afternoon.” As the race was run at 2.15 p.m., the lad s entrv was received.
