SEQUEL TO POLICE RAID [by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.j WELLINGTON, April 17. Pines totalling over £2OO were imposed to-day on. men arrested as a result of the'raid on the premises of a. club on the night -of April 9. One of the keepers, Francis Law, who had a previous conviction, was fined £IOO and the other keeper, Thomas Dwyer, was fined £lO. All but one of the defendants reversed their plea's of not guilty, entered at the first hearing, and admitted the offence. Only one -charge was dismissed on a technical point. Of the forty-five men found on the premises, , s ix did not appear in -court at the first hearing, and were fined £3, and another -whs dealt with yesterday. 'The remainder were fined sums ranging from £2 to £5. Th charges against Isaac Kutner of assisting in the conduct ot a common gaming house was dismissed. A REMAND GRANTED. DUNEDIN, April 17. William Has-set was charged at the Milton Court to-day with the attempted murder of Albert Lloyd, (who was injured in the- abdomen with a pocket knife), and was remanded- till Monday.
