He was -admitted to a hospital in a serious condition. A. SUDDEN DEATH. HASTINGS, April 16. _ Alfred Benjamin plarke, aged 65, while cycling this morning fell from liis machine and died within a few minutes, aparently fprom heart failure. ACCIDENT ON A MINING CLAIM. HOKITIKA, April 16. Charles Stoop, a married man with eight children, manager of the Woodstock SI ulcers, a- -sluicing claim in Back Creek, while working this morning, was struck by a falling -stone and knocked into -the tail race, being washed down a distance of 600 ft to the- end -o-f the tail. He was considerah-ly -cut about the bead and wa-s -severely bruised on the arms and body, and received, concussion, but. it is expected lie will re- . cover.
