(From Our Own Correspondent.) EEL CLUB’S SEASON. The. Elthnm Eel Club competition season has ended. The winner of the men’s competition was Mr. H. Andrews, who caught a. 201 b eel; the ladies’ section was won by ALrs. L. Pease with a 121 b eel; and the junior section by Master Vic. Manley with a 2111 b eel*. It was decided to present trophies to the winners in each section. The secretary (Mr. J. Halpin) reported that there were 180 members on the roll, and ; that the sum of £ i 4s had been collected in fees. The expenses- (purchase of lines, hooks, etc.) were £1 3s lOd, leaving a .balance of £6 0s 2d. It was decided to purchase trophies to the value of £2 2s. and the balance is to lie divided, between the Plunket Society and the Bed Cross Society. The -season will commence again in October. It is estimated, a-s a. result of the total efforts of the members of the club, that some 500 eels have been caught and destroyed.
