AUSTRALIAN RACES. SECOND DAY AT R ANDAATXK. (ADSTHALTAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, April 9. The second day of the autumn meeting was continued at R.andwick in ideal weather. There was an attendance of 17,000. The track was slow. Winalot was the popular fancy for the Cup. He was prominent throughout- and had the race in keeping at the distance. He was accorded a splendid reception on ret urning to scale Resuite were : FLYING HANDICAP. Greenline, 9.0 1 Karunya, 7.1 i - Boaster, 9.7 3 Twelve started. ' Beckwith was first away from Greenline and AYhitta, At the 'half-mile AAOiitta took charge, followed by Greenline t which showed the way into the straight. At the distance Greenline took the lead from Kaipunya find won comfortably by three lengths. Time, 1.15 f. EASTERN STAKES. Bob’s March, 7.9 1 Panola, 7.0 2 Martimah, 8.0 3 There were ten starters. When the field settled down Black Douglas was in charge from Low-field, Panola, and Black Dina. At the half-mile Lowfield took the lead, followed by Black Dina, Panola, and Martimah. Bob’s March held command at the distance, but after a. sharp tussle with Panola, gained the verdict by two lengths. Time, 3.29. FIRST STEEPLECHASE. Arcndit, 10.2 1 Eastern Scot, 9.0 2 Prince Arirn, 10.12 3 There were eight starters. Passing the stand for the first time Falrose had the lead from Mendit, Prince Arim and Namera. At the second treble Namera came down along the back of the course, and Falrose led Mendit and Prince Army, continuing in that order to the straight, where Mendit took command and gained the verdict by 15 lengths. Time, 4.38*. SYDNEY GOLD CUP. Two miles. AA’iualot, 8.2 (Tooliey) 1 Tangible, 7.5 (Percival) 2 Strongbow, 8.1 (McCarten) 3 Don Moon and Spearer were scratched. When the field- settled down Runnymede was in charge from Ivnible, Obey, Black Duchess, and Winalot. Passing the stand Black Duchess ran 'to the front, followed by Runnymede, Obey, Piastoon, Jocelyn, and AYinalot. Along the back of the course Tangible held the place of honour ahead of Black Duchess, Jocelyn, AA 7 inalot, and Strongbow. Tangible showed the way into the Straight ahead of Winalot, Strongbow, Valwyne, and Black Duch--ess. At the distance Winalot took command and went on to gain a. comfortable win by three and a half lengths, half a length separating the second and third horses. Time, 3.32£. AVENTWORTH HANDICAP. Oatendale, 7.9 1 St. Rogoff, 8.2 2 Magical, 7.0 3 Twenty started. Star Warden jumped away smartly, followed by Renora and Casque D’Or. At the half-mile Renora was in charge, with Star Warden and Oatendale. Turning for home Oatendale showed the way to Remora, Star Warden, St. Rogoff, and Magical. The winner after that was untroubled, and won by live lengths. Time, 1.15 J. TO CAL HANDICAP. Abdlino.. 7.11 1 Mountain Prince, 7.12 2 Bernsek, 8.3 3 Dion, Valparaiso, and Broonala led the field early. Turning for home, Beedos showed the way to Spaghetti, Vallino, and Mountain Prince. Vallino took charge at the distance and
won comfortably by three lengths. Time, 2.9. AATLLIAMSTOWN CUP. MELBOURNE, April 9. The result of the chief event at Melbourne to-day is. Williamstown Cup, one mile and a half. —Sunmorn, 7.13, 1: Anna Louise 8.0, 2; Ograb, 7.12, 3. There were eleven starters. A great finish. AY on by a short head. Time, 2.34 J. RESULTS FROM ADELAIDE. ADELAIDE, April 9. The chief events at Adelaide to-dav were: Onkaparinga Cup, eleven furlongs.— Water Pistol, 8.4, 1; Paroodus, 7.8, 2; Janomagne, 7.4, 3. There were eight starters. Won by two lengths and a half. Time, 2.21, Great Eastern Steeples, three miles and a quarter. —Epergne, 11.6, 1; Unchoo, 9.5, 2; Sir Pere, 9.4, and Glentronie (dead heat) 3. Fourteen started. AYon by- two lengths. Time, 6.24 f. MEETING OF THE CHAMPIONS. SYDNEY, April 9. Much interest and speculation surrounds the meeting of the champions, Limerick and Gothic, in the All-Aged Stakes on AYednesday. A battle royal is anticipated. Limerick has not accepted for the Cumberland Stakes.
