INVENTION TO AID BLIND PEOPLE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, April 7. Dr. Willis Whitman, director of the Schenectady laboratory of the General Electric Company, believes lie will aid blind people by producing a “talking book,” on which lie has been working for a considerable time. Asked when it would definitely appear, he said. “Remind me of it in a month.” The device looks like a camera filled with a strip of film which winds and unwinds a number of times, issuing words from several tracks through a loud speaker. The inventor believes a film lasting Iwo hours will be sold for about six dollars. Australian Press Assooiation.
