TROTTING
HAWERA MEETING.
SATURDAY’S PROGRAMME.
The big list of acceptances received for the Hawera, Trotting Club’s two-day meeting, which opens on Saturday 7, indicates the popularity of the club among owners and trainers of light harness horses. There- are good fields in all events and the public may rest assured of good racing. The first race is scheduled for 11.30 a.m. The following is the programme tor the first day : AU EDA; HANDICAP.

STRATFORD HANDICAP
Derby Lynn is a very useful three-year-old, who won at Wairarapa and ran second to The Abbey at Wanganui. Mona Logan, from Nelson, has winning form to her credit. "Warplane (a sorTof Man 0’ War) won at the Thames and is a fine horse. Sailor Boy and Queen Elizabeth both won at Wanganui. This race is one 1 of the hardest to pick, as mo less than eight of the horses engaged have won races within the last month, and by the recent displays of the three Man O’ War youngsters thov may 7 fill the places. HAWERA CUP HANDICAP.
If Vesuvius blew Great Peter to- a Shadow(land) it would take a better judge, than this writer to pick the winner from the remaining eighteen competitors. MANAIA HANDICAP.
The, Tiger, for his win at Wanganui, has been penalised 24 yards, which brings him within 12 yards ol the well handicapped Kulmar. Roma Bingen, after her two recent wins in Auckland and Hamilton, must have a great chance. Louisiana has been racing well in Nelson. Brigand is an imported American horse .and if he does his best lie will make the horses in front of iiim look cheap. Maxegin, J. Bryce’s new importation, is hailed a champion, so The Tiger, Kulmar and Brigand will bo kept busy by him. NORM ANDY HANDICAP.
