FARMERS’ AFFAIRS DISCUSSED.

At a representative meeting, the provincial executive of the Southern Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Union reversed its previous decision respecting daylight saving by carrying unanimously this resolution: “That the abomination of daylight saving should cease.” Speakers considered that “Sidey” time was detrimental to the rural communities.

The meeting decided to urge the Dominion executive to do all possible to get cheaper manures for farmers; also to endeavour to arrange for a supply of seeds at the cheapest rate, and, if possible, direct from the growers , Representation is to be, made to endeavour to have the land tax payable in February, simultaneously with the - income tax.
