DARING AND SKILFUL ROBBERY. DANGEROUS GANG AT WORK. Received 1.25 p.m. to-day. LONDON, March 26. The Hatton Garden diamond market, which is one of the. world’s olosiriyeilarded streets, was the scene of a .daring and' iskilful burglary during'the week-end. involving T. A. Hirschfield, manufacturing jewellers, in the. loss of precious stones and jewellery valued at £7OOO. Bv means of oxyacetylene gas, a hole was cut through an inch _of thick steal of the massive safe, which was in full view of the opposite buildings in the day time and .iUnlimited* by a special beam of light at night. Th;e thieves prepared two lines of escape at the rear of the premises in the event of bring surprised, by cutting the iron bars and removing windows on two floors. They left two large cylinders and packing cases in which they were originally contained and two bags of the most modern cracksmen’s ‘tools. The extra ordinary skill and daring of the coup convinces the police that a dangerous, gang is operating.
