Mr J. B. Murdoch left HaWera this morning by mail train for Wellington, | where he attends the monthly meeting j of the National Dairy Association. A Press Association message from Sydney announced the death of the [ Rev. James Richard Murray, a wellknown Methodist Minister and Maori War veteran. He had charge of the mission at Christchurch till 1906, when he came to Australia. He was 65 years of age. Miss E. F. Turner, wlho hiais been on the teaching staff of the Hawera High School for the past twelye months leaves shortly to take up a similar position in Hamilton. At last night'a meeting of the board her resignation was accepted with deep ie grot, it being pointed out that Mis* Turner had done exceptionally well during her term as a teacher and had made herself most popular with all the pupils of the school. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs R. A. Richter, of Mok'oia was passed at the annual meeting of the OWangai Rugby Football Club last evening. In proposing the motion the president (Mr J. Kerrisk, junr.) reported that the committee had previously forwarded a letter expressing condolence with Mr Richter, who is one pf the vice-presidents of the club.
