OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT,

* ‘ TUMBLING RIVER. ’ ’

A plot of villainy iand intrigue woven around a gang of the mo'st notorious cattle-rustlers in t'he west is the theme of the new Tom Mix production for Fox Films ‘ ‘ Tumbling Fiver, ’ ’ which will be shown at the Opera House to-night. A lair of evil and thievery far back in the rugged places of the mountains, by the light of a flickering fire, is where these sinister men plan all of their deeds to fleece the country of its finest cattle and thoroughbred horses. Around such a menace this blazing Mix story of the west Was laid, bringing in all of the high lights for which the west is noted —hazardous rides, hard fighting, and quick shooting, and Tom enfolds to his public an entire repertoire of new thrillers. There is a big supporting programme, which will include an Imperial Comedy, Fox Variety and Fox News Topical.

Having juSt 'completed a remarkably successful selason of seven consecutive weeks at His Majesty’s Theatre, Wellington, the Joe Brennan Revue Company are' coming to the Opera House, Hawera on Thursday next, March 29, and will present one of their sparkling city revues from their extensive repertoire Hawera audien'ces are going to witness a bright and company, of talented artists _ had a remarkable season in Wellington — seven weeks in all, and their entertainment drew crowded houses to both matinee and night performances. As the weeks past, the Joe -Brennan Revue Company increased in popularity and alt the end of the long season the Fuller management were showered with requests for repeiat performances. Every item in this company ’« revues is fresh and original and includes bright and breezy sketches, specialty dance numbers, novel musical and vocal items and daintily at hanged ensembles by a smart, ballet. The performance will be staged in Hawera exactly as at His Majesty’s Theatre, Wellington, with the same scenery and costumes. . The company comprises 'eighteen picked English, Australian and New Zealand artists. Popular prices are announced and the box plan will .open at Miss Blake’s Sweet Shop on Monday next at 9 a.m.

BANDBOX REVUE CO.

RETURNSi NEXT MONDAY NIGHT. After a most successful Reason of four nights at New Plymouth, the Bandbox Revue and Musical Comedy Company will re-appear at the Opera House, Hawera, on Monday evening next. The exccellent impression made by the company on their recent local appearance will doubtless be responsible for the attendance of a large audience. An entire change of program is announced, the feature attraction being a farcical musical _ comedy, “Married Rife.” This piece is said to abound in humorous situations, the company’s comedians, Messrs. Charles Norman and Sam Ward, being responsible for many mirth provoking situations. “Married Life” is stated to be one of the most successful productions in the company’s extensive repertoire. The first part of the programme will introduce the principals in. a further series of entertaining titbits, and as the merit of the performers is now recognised, something very attractive may he expected. The ballet will be seen in another set of pleasing dances and in a new assortment of costumes, none of which were worn on the first visit here. The scenery will also> be new and the musical numbers which occur throughout the bill will also differ from those previously submitted. Next Monday’s performance will mark the final visit of the Brandbox revue to Hawera as they shortly return to one of the large city theatres on Fullers’ wide circuit. Seats may be reserved at Miss Blake’s.
