KAKARAMEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A meeting or the gen, era! committee of the Kakhramoa .Sports and Agricultural Association was held on Monday night., when among other business the programme as revised by the programme committee was adopted. it Was decided to make the classes for heavy horses open only to horses that have never Avon a prize at a registered A. and P. Show, thus giving loidal settlers a chance of winning the prizes. For the last, few years show horses that have won at larger shows have scooped the pool here, and as they are now banned it is confidently hoped that local horses will .be shown in .increasing numbers, and thus assist the show. On Monday next a meeting of the general committee will be held at the factory, and as stewards and judges are to be appointed at this meeting, a large attendance of members is requested. Mr Havre, our local school teacher, leaves on Good Friday for Dunedin, where he has been appointed to the ]?nvensborough ..School. It is not yet known who is to fill his place here. The milk supply increased Wonderfully after the rain, the number of cheeses made per day rising from 37 to 49, wfhich is a remarkable occurrence at this time of the year. The country looks green, and there is a fair amount of feed, but another good .rain would be very beneficial. The County Council staff is busy widening the road between here and Patea; it was a job that, badly wanted doing, as the tax seal sides'were broken away and in some places there was a drop of six i noli os, and as the road was too narrow for two cars to pass, there was a great danger of injuring tyres when getting off or on to the road.
