Much of the political activity of recent weeks has been centred in the Southland district (says the “Southland Times”). All parties have had missionaries paying visits, and specu lation is life as to the intention of Labour in contesting seats at the forthcoming election. It is understood that the Invercargill and all adjacent electorates will he fought, and that an official pronouncement will Se made in the course of a few weeks. It is learned from a- wellin fornied source that it is probable that Air. W. Denham, well-known in Invercargill, will be asked to carry the banner for Invercargill, and that the Rev. Moses Ayrton, ex-national secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, will be placed similarly with the A.warua. electorate, and that Mr. “Jack” Hutchison, ex-Labour city councillor of Wellington, but now of Wanganui, will he amongst the nominees for selection to' contest the Wallace seat. One thing certain is that the Labour Party is early in the field preparing for the general election.
