EGMONT RACING CLUB.

THE WINTER MEETING.

ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME,

We have to acknowledge receipt, of the programme- for the winter meeting of the Egmont Racing Club, which, will be held on Thursday and Saturday, May 10 and 12. That the club will have a most successful meeting there is no gainsaying, as the programme is most comprehensive; steeplechasers, hurdlers, sprinters and middle distance horses are all catered for. Not only is the programme well drawn up, but the stakes offered are on a most liberal scale, and coupled with the fact that the Egmont meeting is the first on the circuit of the .jumping season, large nominations are sure to result. The very creditable total of £3030 is distributed over the fourteen events on the card, of which the Egmont Steeples, run over 2J miles, carries a stake of 400 sovs. The Tongahoe Hurdles is endowed with £2OO, and as a rule winners of this race are amongst those which later iii; the season show up well in the big jumping events. The Mcßae Memorial, of 1 j miles, is also richly endowed, and the £3OO stake will probably find a real high-class field of the Dominion’s best hand mappers disputing the honours. The piceo-de-resistance ou the second day is the Adamson Steeples, of about 2 miles, to which is added tire’sum of £3OO. There is no race on. the programme of less value than £l5O, and of these there arc only three. These arc hack events of live and six furlongs. Nominations for all events will close on Friday, 20th April, at 8.30 p.m.
