SPORTS AT MANAIA
RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED. CONTESTS NEXT SATURDAY. Entries constituting a record have been received for the Manaia Hibernian Sports which are to be contested at the Manaia Domain on Saturday, and indications are that the programme will prove one of the most thrilling ever presented at thisi popular annual gathering, which draws competitors from all parts of the Dominion. Among the visitors on Saturday will be two of the South Inland’s outstanding wheelmen, the noted Phil O’Shea and Wilmott. O’Shea, is reported to be riding as well as ever, and at Greymouth lie recently added two further championships to his long list of successes, while in the same town Wilmott recently beat the champion Mackie. These attractions, together with others, should draw a big attendance of sports followers. All events have been well filled. The 120 yards has drawn 31 entries: the 220 yards 29; the 440 yards 26j the half-mile 20; and the mile a round dozen. Twenty nominations have been received for the half-mile cycle, while the two mile® and the three miles have brought 17 and 14 respectively.
