TAWHITI SPORTS.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. A general meeting of the executive of the Tawhiti and District Sports Association was held last evening in the Tawhiti Hall, when the following members were present: Messrs. J. B. Laurenson (chairman), A. Appleyaid, Cl McGlade, E. Cox, L. Batkla J. Alexander, H, Sommers, L. Knowles, D. J. Thompson, H. Thrush, JBublitz, G. Pickering, H. Dawson, W. Wallace, P. Kuro W. Nero, W. Parker, D. Wills, Scotty Panama, and R. McOay (secretary). Correspondence was received from the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club, giving the necessary permit from the Wanganui centre to hold the Tawhiti sports on April 4. A handsome silver cup, donated by Mr. R. Linn, of New Plymouth, for the lest cow hi the dairy class on the day of the sports, was received. The donor was accorded .a hearty vote of thanks for his handsome gift. It was decided to form a special class, to lie called the “Linn Oupi” Cash prizes to be awarded in the same event- were £2 first and £1 second. After considerable discussion on the question of the “Linn Clip ’ competition it was unanimously decided to: appoint Mr. W. J. Butler, of Nolantown, as steward, subject, to his approval. The offer of the Taiporoihenui Maori string band was accepted to play for the dance which will he held on the evening of the sports Tt was decided that a meeting of members would be held on Monday, April 2 at 11 a.m., to finalise matters in connection with sports and to ptepare the grounds, etc. Tt was reported that several valuable trophies had been donated for' the athletic events.
