The weather was again perfect for training operations this morning, and all tracks were in good order. Most of the houses engaged at Opunake have finished their preparations, and not a great deal of strenuous work was performed. Benzora was allowed to run along five furlongs by himself in 1.3£. Vivo, accompanied by Partaga, went seven furlongs, Partaga pulling off at five. The mare finished her task in T. 30 2-5. Whisogne, Eka, Airtight, and the rest of .J. Fryer’s team did pacing exercises, none being asked to make time. Barryanda and Bisox galloped seven furlongs, the pair being on even terms at the finish in 1.39 1-5. Orazone and Silvermine, the local favourites for the Cup and St. Patrick’s Handicap, did easy pace work. Both are in first-class condition.
Ranee, picked up by Alan Brae at live furlongs, ran a strong six furlongs. Gasnapper and AYar Flame sprinted four furlongs in good style. Gasnapper finished fi shade in front in oQsec. Gasnapper is in the Alaiden Plate at Opunake. Alountain Bell went a mile, the two-year-old Egeria assisting over the last half-mile. Alountain Bell ran her mile in 1.47 and shaped well. Glenganff went a round, coming home the last three furlongs in 38sec. Ooolmint, Royal Acre, and Royal Lover were companions over five furlongs, the trio finishing together in 1.4*. George—iiipo and Oration. Owners and trainers are reminded that the train conveying horses leaves Hawera at- 8.10 a.m., and all ai'e requested to have their charges loaded not later than 8 o’clock. The club has arranged for motor transport and buses to convey passengers to and from Pihama station, a distance of 2* miles, at a moderate charge.
