Following a. serious gun fight, believed to have been the result of an underworld vendetta, Norman McDonald was taken to hospital in a grave condition, being shot in the abdomen. Ho refuses to give the police any information as to his assailants. Tho police have definite evidence that another man must have been seriously wounded, but have failed to locate him. When last seen he was with several men, who had him on the floor of a hallway in a house in Foveaux Street, city, and were kicking him viciously. The fracas occurred at the Elizabeth Street entrance of the central railway station. A constable in plain clothes endeavoured to assist the . wounded man, hut was driven off by a. fusilade of shots, and lie sought assistance. Two arrests were effected.
