(From Our Own Correspondent.) BOY SCOUTS. A meeting of the Alanaia Boy Scouts Committee was held last evening in AL*. A. G. Bennett’s office-. There were present: Alessrs. A. G. Bennett (chair), A. Gamlin, P. F. Hammonds) J. AVells, C. Abbott, G. Payne, Mesdames J. Christie, J. Hayter and A. Gamlin. Apologies were received from Colonel Sutherland and Messrs. E. Washer and G. Aleuli. Mr. Hammonds declined, owing to pressure of business, to accept the position as quartermaster for the Easter jamboree, and Air. J. D. Robinson was .recommended for the position and added t-o the committee. The troop leaders’ report was read as follows: The first few parades of the new year were not too well attended, only half of the members being present, but the prospects are looking much better. I regret- that a few of the boys haVs left, but in -some cases this was inevitable. . I also iregret to state that on account of the -senior officers being unable to attend, the troop has been practically at a standstill So far as the test work is concerned, I am glad to say, however, that three boys completed their tenderfoot, and three th)3ir first-class tests. Owing to the band requiring the room so early on Wednesday nights, our activities in this direction are limited. AVe received the drums kindly donated by the School Committee, hut unfortunately one is in bad order, and the other has been lent for the time being to the Alauaia Brass Band. AVoul.d like to see the matter of. our own band got into hand as soon as possible. It was resolved to ask the Commissioners to visit the troop on the 20th Aln-rch to present badges and inspect the troop. Arrangeemnts were made 'regarding supplies for the jamboree. BAND AIEAIBERS AIEET. A, meeting of the Alanaia Alunicipal Brass Band was held last evening in the Biandroom, when there was a good attendance of members. Mr. W. J. Robinson, presided. The business of the meeting was to elect different committees for the ensuing year. The following were appointed. Band Committee:—Bandsmen P. Mullins, O. Hansen, A. West, A, A7aller, A. Paul, with ehairmUn," Secretary, president and vice-president-. Mr.' J. Robinson was elected chairman; Deputy Bandmaster, BandsiUeh Ct Franklin; Sergeant Bandsman,' P. Alullins; Corporal, C l . Hansen; Librarian, AA 7 . J. Robinson; Deputy Librarian, H. Sheet; programme committee, s Conductor, Cosgrove and Bandsmen R. Fletcher, A. Paul and AV. I. Robinson; social committee, chairman, secretary and bandsmen C. Hansen, P. Alullins, J Payne, A. Ahdler and J. Hansen. Air. AV. K. Robinson was appointed band delegate to the Stratford conference. It was resolved that a letter of thanks be sent to the Rev. Air. Miller for his donation of £1 towards the contest fund; also to Airs. AA 7 . T. Wells for her donation of £l. It was resolved that the board committee meet on the first Alonday in each month. PERSONAL. iSister Aqucenis Condon ivas a passenger by the- Barrabool, which left Aleibourno last Friday for South Africa. Sister -Condon is •well known in Alanaia. She received her training at the New Plymouth Public Hospital. She will follow her profession while in South Africa. Sister Condon is a niece of Airs Dawson Bashford, of Kaupokonui, and Air' E. Alassey, of Alanaia.
