GYMKHANA AND STEER RIDING. GENERAL MEETING. There was a fair attendance of members at the meeting held- fast night of the general committee running the gymkhana and steer riding competition, fixed for Wednesday, March 21. at the Showgrounds. There were present: Mr S. C. Tonics (president), in the chair, and Messrs W. McL’Dow.ie, J. D. Scott. R. Crocker. John Forbes, Grace, C. Bon man, G. Collins, D. Cameron, and W. Hawkins. The chairman complimented the various clubs for .so cordially entering into the scheme for assisting the Egmont A. and P. Association in the effort to • -tour? additional, funds. He said there was a long programme of events, and it would be necessary to get the track and racing events finished before the steer riding could be staged. The programme was then taken fcriatum and re-arranged as below: — From 1 o’clock.—Open jumping, Highland dancing. .piping, etc., 220 vards. heats and final, boys’ tyre race, fire brigade event, one mile eye’e, surf u 'v,i.rd (motoring 1. fire brigade event, 880 vards. acceleration test (motor cars). 75 vards ' (ladies), ,fire brigade event, iavelin. throwing exhibition by S. Lay. two-mile cycle race, potato race, 440 vards, 220 yards (schools). Steer riding and buck-jumping will take place at 3.15 p.m., trotting and pony events at 3.30 p.m., musical chairs. 3.40 p.m., committeemen’s race at 4 p.m.. and a football match on rap tar-cycl-es will oorio'azcle tripe programme. The managers of the dancing and T>.ug events will be Messrs- J. B. Laurens-on and R. McCay, and. the

d.ge Miss Jean MacLachlan. The time-keeners for athletic events will be viessrs F. Foden, G. Hosticli, McCabe and Falkiner. Considerable interest is being taken in the gymkhana, and prospects for success are bright.
