OLYMPIC GAMES.
“A WOEFUL DISAPPOINTMENT.” WHAT THE. “DAILY EXPRESS” SAYS. AY (TaHLR I'llß.Tja »S?nri ATfON rOPVRIR'iT LONDON. March 10. In an outspoken attack on the Olympic Games, the. “Daily Express,” in an editorial, says: It is painfully clear that the games have always been a woeful disappointment. —They leave behind them a “trail of resentments, suspicious and disputes instead of an improvement of the atmosphere and the .standards of spoil. Their influence is definitely lowering the competitors and not, merely the men and women participating, lmt the committees and nations they represent. This introduces politics, with the invariable rosn’t of friction, illwill, accusations and recriminations. Britain loves .foreign competitors at the Wimbledon Olympia, but overorganised. semi-professional, Genevalike gatherings usurping the timehonoured name of Olympic Games, find no enthusiasm. The best thing England can do is to drop out entirely.”
