HIS NEW APPOINTMENT. [by telegraph—press association.] INVERCARGILL, Alarch 9. The Prime Minister issued the following statement this evening: “A statement was published some time ago to the effect that the _ Administrator of the mandated territory of Western Samoa (General Sir G. Richardson) would retire next May, Hut would remain in Samoa for a few months longer. General Richardson completes his term on Alarch 16, and has been appointed New Zealand's representative at Geneva when the reports in connection with the mandates are being considered in June next. “The selection of General Richardson to represent New Zealand at Geneva is thq reason which prevents his reappointment as Administrator on the expiry of his present term' of office. He will, however, continue to hold the present position until hi® successor is appointed and arrives in Samoa to assume the- duties of Administrator.
“The name of the new Administrator will be announced' in due course.”
