ELTHAM FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNiUAXi MEETING. The annual meeting of members pi the Eltham Football Club was held in the Town Hall, Eltham, last night. There was an attendance of about 50 members, the chair being occupied by Mr. A. It. Gower (president). REPORT AND BALANCE! SHEET. The report and balance sheet as follows, were read and adopted: We have again had a fairly successful season, fair gates showing the public have appreciated the efforts of our local teams. The balance sheet shows a credit of £0 19s 5d as against £9 14s Id last season. Our club wishes to thank the public for the way in which we have been assisted financially the sum of £2B 8s being received in donations. Playing members must also be congratulated for the manner in which they have paid their subscription, out of a membership of fifty only five have failed to pay, this being a record for the club. Although our teams did not meet with much success in the competitions they always had a team on the field this being found hard at times owing to the shortage of players, Mr. Tiplady gained representative honours and to him we extend our congratulations. The first North v. South match was played in Eltham, the gate amounting to £75 15s, when was very good considering the weather conditions. The annual ball, although not a ■success: financially owing to the boisterous weather, was enjoyed by all those present. To the ladies committee we wish to extend our appreciation for the manner in which they worked and organised this function. Owing to not being able to l arrange a suitable date for our annual seven-a-side w.e were not able to hold same. In conclusion the committee wish all interested in Rugby l'ootball an enjoyable and successful season. The balance sheet disclosed receipts (including halance brought forward, £9 14s Id), £271, 6s, of which amount £129 2s was credited to gate takings, £53 5s gd being refunded by the Rugby Union. Expenditure totalled £261 6s 7d, leaving a balance to credit of £9 19s sd. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet and report, the president considered that the club’had done remarkably well during the past season. The senior team, had met with 1 misfortune in the form of sickness and casualties, am] rather than draw on the resources of the junior and third-class teams, had decided to make the l best or a bad job, with the result that it did not get a prominent place on the championship ladder. It was to be hoped that better luck awaited_ the team this season. The club had fair resources on which to draw for playing members, though an improvement in this respect was possible with an extension of boundaries. No friction had occurred with the Stratford Club in re-o-ard to boundaries, but it was felt that an extension of territory was desirable. THE DUNN SHIELD. The president explained to an enquirer that the Dunn Shield had not been competed for last season because the club had been unable Vo secure a suitable date. April 7 had been decided upon for the fixture, but other seven-a-side fixtures in the province had intervened and the club' found itself crowded ° Ut ’ ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
